Agency Description:
The City of Fairway is a “first-ring” suburb of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area with a population of nearly 4,000 residents. Primarily a bedroom community, Fairway has a history of exceptional service delivery to its residents and visitors. Home to businesses including KCTV5, the University of Kansas Medical Research Institute, Rainy Day Books, and several others. The City swimming pool has an annual attendance of nearly 40,000 swimmers and, along with the adjacent Peterson Park, has become a true community gathering place. In 2020, the Kathryn Lyon Flora Park was added to the park system. The Shawnee Indian Mission State Historic Site lies within the City of Fairway, and a unique public-private partnership allows the City to work with a private foundation to manage the site, which is owned by the Kansas Historical Society. Desired Applicant Summary:
The ideal candidate will have municipal experience and exceptional clerical skills. Candidates must be energetic, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with the public and elected officials on all matters. A strong track record of good co-worker interaction is also essential as Fairway has a small, but dedicated workforce.
