Budget 2025
There are many opportunities for citizen input during the City’s 2025 Budget process. Committee meetings offer an excellent opportunity for learning. Additionally, you are welcome and encouraged to attend City Council meetings the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Fairway is very transparent with residents regarding its budget process, through email communications, newsletter articles and hosting a budget public forum, which is in addition to the Public Hearing required by Kansas statute.
Budget Process Schedule:
April-May: Department Directors and Committees develop budgets; first draft of budget reviewed by Administration and Finance Committee (consisting of the full City Council) at May meeting.
June: Further review during Department Committee meetings; draft of budget reviewed by Administration and Finance Committee.
July-August: Further review during Department Committee meetings and Administration and Finance Committee meetings; valuation report received from County; Budget Public Forum.
September: Budget Public Hearing and Final Budget considered by City Council during regular Council meeting. The final 2025 Budget must be
submitted to the County by October 1st.
