APWA Accreditation

City of Fairway Public Works Department has been awarded the prestigious American Public Works Association (APWA) Accreditation designation. The APWA Accreditation program recognizes public works agencies that go beyond the requirements of the management practices established nationally in the public works industry, as contained in the APWA Public Works Management Practices Manual. The Accreditation of the Fairway Public Works Department indicates the department met all applicable Accreditation documentation and practices. For the review, a team of public works professionals from Cherry Hills Village, Colorado; Bloomfield, Connecticut; and Kansas City, Missouri, completed a thorough evaluation of operations during their site visit. The review process involved 349 management practices that touched every area of operations from Human Resource Management, Safety Training, Street Maintenance, Snow Removal, and many many more.

In a statement from Director Bill Stogsdill, “The awarding of the APWA Accreditation shows that even as a small department and community we are dedicated to the efforts of continuous improvement and excellence. As the smallest agency to achieve Accreditation, we are extremely proud to receive this honor. The heroes of the prestigious APWA award are the public works and development staff whose mission is to provide services and programs that contribute to making Fairway a great place to live and work.”

The City of Fairway Public Works Department becomes the 147th agency in North America to be awarded Accreditation, and the 6th agency in the State of Kanas. In addition to Fairway, the accredited agencies in Kansas include Lenexa, Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee, and Topeka.
